This year began with Alyce and Colette Photographers. In March, we set the wheels in motion to re-brand and become Cloud Catcher Studio, which we launched in May of this year. Bringing the studio to life has been a dream of mine for the longest time, ever since I emerged from the womb double-packing a Leica in my left hand and a Contax in my right*. Even though I’ve been doing this work for a few years, suddenly running the show all on my own felt like (what I imagine) bringing home a newborn baby would be like.
Initially that prospect was frickin’ terrifying. But the second we got back into weddinging and I had my camera in my hands and my friends by my side, I was home.
Here is just the tiniest little glimpse at what we have turned our cameras toward this year. We have a bunch of editorial work which we aren’t allowed to share yet – so there’s all that stuff missing from here! To all the incredibly talented wedding creatives we’ve had the opportunity to work with this year: thank you. To all the couples who invited us in on their happiest, stressiest, excitingest, wildest, rollercoasteriest, beautifulest days: thank you. You are clearly the best and the smartest and the most wonderful and beautiful and handsome and sparkly and incredible brides and grooms on the planet.
To my studio mates, to my dear friends, to my family, my husband, my horse – thank you for being there with me, for cheering us all on, for rolling with this crazy idea and giving it the time and the patience and the love it (and I) needed to bloom.
Bros, Ladybros, Cloud Catcher is not even a whole year old yet. We haven’t even gone full balls to the wall. Our balls are not even close to the wall yet. Our balls are actually quite a distance from the wall right now. Just you wait. We are so excited for 2017.
Have a shandy for us, kiss your loved ones, and enjoy the holidays.
*I don’t remember my own birth but I have it on good authority this statement is untrue, I actually haven’t owned a Leica
P.S. Getting hitched in 2017? If you’ve made it this far and you think your wedding photos should be balls to the wall: let’s get it poppin’
