‘I think this is the happiest I’ve ever been’ Colette said simply. We were waiting at the hotel rooftop bar, killing time before we started Robert and Maria’s pre-wedding portraits.
And when I say waiting, picture us and our gear sprawled out on lounges, mojitos in hand, under a mellow summer sun. We were in Italy, just getting over our jet lag and watching the light fall – it falls slowly in Italy in summer, sending the clouds gold and purple and the water a deep turquoise. Over the lake was the palace gardens on Isola Bella. Wedding photography is not really a glamorous job… except for this precise moment. Thinking back to it makes me smile, especially when I’m working like a crazed mofo hunched over my computer in the studio. That day, that moment, literally a world away, but yep… it happened.
This wedding defied belief, and looking back at it now, I almost can’t believe it wasn’t all a dream. Except here are the photos:
