We are baaaaack with the third instalment of this ‘where the f do we start wedding planning?!’ series. Today we’re looking at some wedding venues just a smidge south of the Queensland border – three Tweed Coast wedding venues that are a logistical dream.
So, to recap for the final time, what’s the first thing you need to do to get the ball rolling on your wedding plans?
Book your venue.
One more time for the people in the back!
Book your venue!
Once you’ve got a venue, that will give you a date (a deadline, sorta!) and the style of the venue will help you make decisions on which other vendors will best work towards the vision you guys have for the day.
But, how do we find a date that suits everyone – family, friends, our must have vendors?
Oooooh this is the tricky bit! We suggest asking your venue for a few dates that are currently available around the time you’d like to have your wedding, and seeing which date is the best fit. Fridays are becoming really popular, if you’re open to a non-Saturday wedding. Lots of our couples will get in touch and give us two or three dates to see when we’re available before booking their venue.
A Case for ‘Destination’ Weddings
Having a pre and post wedding gathering makes the wedding day itself feel more relaxed, and it gives you more quality AND quantity time together. But trying to think about where people can stay, getting everyone to/from each event, etc. can be a real headache. Unleeeeesssss… you simplify the wedding day logistics with one of our glorious all-in-one favourite spots.
What makes a wedding venue a logistical dream?
We reckon any venue where you can get married AND party down in the same spot makes everything way easier to organise. Your guests (and you guys) only need to focus on one location, so a lot less logistics to consider. Bonus points if you can get ready on site or stay super close nearby!
Falling in love with the idea of a Tweed Coast Wedding weekend away with all your favourites? With venues like these it’s not such a daunting logistical task to organise, let’s go:
Tweed Coast wedding spot 1! Osteria Casuarina
A perfect blend of garden party, industrial, beachy vibes! You can have your ceremony and reception at this iconic Italian restaurant in the beautiful beachside neighbourhood of Casuarina. We’re talkin’ aperols in the leafy back garden and share plates of the Italian food Osteria is so well known for.
Where to get ready:
There’s lots of accommodation options close by in Kingscliff and Casuarina.
Where to get photos:
We aren’t far from the beach, but a lot of our Osteria couples opt to venture to a nearby field with dirt road and forest or up to one of the local headlands for sunset and beach flavoured photos (without getting too sandy!) – the landscape on the Tweed Coast offers the best of both worlds.

Consider Osteria if you’re going for:
Beautiful Italian share plates, garden party vibes, a little time out from your guests for portraits, glamorous industrial moodiness
Osteria pairs well with:
Shane Vincent Celebrant / Rue De Seine Bridal / Wilderness Flowers / The Cake that Ate Paris / Neon Republic
Tweed Coast wedding spot 2! Summergrove Estate, Carool
The beautiful white barn structure is a perfect blank canvas for your reception styling. There’s a sweet chapel for the marrying bit (which also serves as the perfect wet weather ceremony location), or you can get married outdoors with the spectacular valley views to the gold coast skyline and ocean as your backdrop. Then it’s up to the lawn for sunset drinks – there’s always heaps of guests taking selfies because the sun filtering through the rolling hills is incredible.
Where to get ready:
There’s a suite for getting ready in the morning and cabins dotted along the hills for guests to stay.
Where to get photos:
We’ll jump in the golf buggies and hit a few different spots – there’s quite a few different options for totally different looks super close together which gets you back to the party ASAP.

Consider Summergrove if you’re going for:
Modern country glam, a chapel ceremony, country and coastal views, unfussy elegance
Summergrove Estate pairs well with:
Amy Spry Hair / Bexi Makeup Artist / Hamilton Band / Best Celebrant Ever / Wheel and Spoon Gelato / Insta-Kombi
Tweed Coast wedding spot last but super not least: Fins at Plantation House, Duranbah
Guys. Guys. It wouldn’t be us talkin’ Tweed Coast weddings if we didn’t throw Fins into the mix. It’s no secret that it’s one of our favourite places on the planet but here’s why – the food, the drinks, the different ‘areas’ for different bits of the party, the incredible light… Our namesake mountain watching over us the whole time? Very on brand. It’s the venue we shoot at most often, and we are so very ok with that. Fun fact: Fins is the perfect place for a party with a pretty generous curfew.
Where to get ready:
There’s a beautiful suite on site for getting ready, or Kingscliff/Casuarina just minutes down the hill with heaps of hotels and beautiful beachside AirBnBs.
Where to get photos:
There’s so many spots on site – cactus gardens, leafy backdrops, beautiful pathways, and (not to get too photographer-y on yo ass right now, but) the quality of afternoon light setting over the canefields is glorious. Most importantly during portraits, you’re never more than a few steps away from the party!

Consider Fins if you’re going for:
Timeless elegance, an incredible dining experience, a long and loud dance party, cocktails at sunset
Fins at Plantation House pairs well with:
George Wu Couture / Blackjacket Suiting / Ben Carlyle Celebrant / Event Stylist & Co / The French Petal / Cut a Rug / AV Ideas
